A bond is a debt instrument issued by governments, corporations, and other entities to raise money to fund new projects or ongoing operations. WebbiBonds are savings bonds not corporate debt like what you'd find in an ETF or Mutual fund. iBonds are sold by the US government and will never return less than zero. You can sell them after 1 year (you forfeit the last 3 months of interest if you sell before 5 years). Currently, they are paying 7.12% and after May will be paying 9.6%.
